There are a wide variety of techniques and methods used successfully to train dogs. What is important to understand is that all dogs are different and there is no one right way to train every dog. Dogs will respond differently to various techniques and methods.

If you are trying to train your dog and you are not getting the results you desire, you should ask yourself these questions:

Do I have a training program that is step-wise and uses progressions to teach the behaviors that I desire?

Do I work with my dog every day or almost every day?

Am I sticking with my training steps consistently or am I skipping steps in my training?

Do I insist that my dog follow instructions during a training lesson, then relax the rules when I am not in a training session?

Does my training break the concepts down into do-able tasks that my dog can succeed at and get rewarded for, or do I feel like I am battling my dog and he is constantly failing to do what I ask of him?

And FINALLY, the simplest question:

Is what I am doing with my dog WORKING?

If your answer to any of these questions is "NO", then you might consider enrolling in private lessons with a professional dog trainer.

Georgia Dog Gym private dog training provides a tailored a program for you and your dog that is focused on your own training goals, suits the temperament of your dog, and offers flexibility in techniques and methods that suit the owner's personality and preferences.

We don't believe in forcing square pegs into round holes.

If you have a particular method or training tool that you would prefer to work with, we will incorporate that into your training program. So if there is a particular training tool or technique that you would like to use to train your dog, our trainer would prefer to show you how to do that correctly rather than your trying it on your on and creating more problems or potentially harming your dog with it.

We believe that training tools don't harm dogs, but that people who do not understand approaches to training can harm dogs. We want to work cooperatively with you to develop positive results with your dog.
